IPA 2 partners so sorry for the loss of Isabel Cottinelli Telmo

Words seem too small to express the sadness we feel about Isabel Cottinelli Telmo’s death.
Isabel Cottinelli Telmo, former President of FPDA Portuguese Federation for Autism and the
Coordinator of the Portuguese team in the project IPA 2, passed away the last month of November 2021 due to Covid- 19 when she was 91 years old. Partners from IPA 2 are really sorry for her loss and they cannot believe that she is no longer with us. We were honoured and blessed to had had her in our team. Isabel Cottinelli Telmo was Professor PhD at Universidade Nova, UIED research. She had a Master of Arts in Education (Boston University). From 1984 to 2012 she was President of the Board of APPDA – Lisboa and from 1990 to 2008 she was Vice-President of Autism-Europe. She was also President of the Bureau of the Federation’s Congress and President of its Installation Commission and the first President of its Executive Council (2014 – 2020). An amazing defender of the Rights of People with Autism and their families, she had, since the beginning, a fundamental role in the creation, functioning, and development of Federação Portuguesa de Autismo. Her merit was recognized when she was awarded the degree of Grand Officer of the Order of Public Instruction in 2013. Much of her life has been dedicated to defending the rights of people with Autism and their families. A tireless fighter, she took part in many Commissions and Working Groups, defending the full application of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This is an irreparable loss. Professor Isabel Cottinelli Telmo was cherished dearly by all those who knew her. You and your nice smile will remain always in our hearts. Thank you for everything.
